Moga, Punjab’s Cultural Hinterland, is also known as the NRI district of Punjab because of the budding urge in students to study abroad. This tehsil broke away from the Faridkot district and was made the 17th independent district on the map of Punjab on 24 November 1995. While the district falls under the jurisdiction of the Ferozpur division, it shares boundaries with Jalandhar in the North, Ludhiana in the East, Sangrur in the South and Faridkot & Firozpur in the West. By the provisional figures of the 2001 census, Moga is ranked as the 11th most populated district in Punjab (ref. https://moga.nic.in/history/ ).
